Federal University Of Agriculture Makurdi (FUAM) Set to Embark on 1 Month Strike


The Senate of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi met Thursday 16th August, 2018 to deliberate on the violent protest of the students of the University yesterday (15/08/2018) following a campus accident involving a commercial bus which claimed the life of one student, Mr Joseph Odeh and injured several others.
After taking a report from key officers whose offices were directly affected and watching a video of damages recorded at various points on the University Campus, the Senate of the University reacted as follows :
1. Senate observed a minute silence for Mr. Joseph Odeh, the only student who lost his life in the bus accident and condoled with the family over the loss.
2. Senate condemned in totality the violent behavior of the students, particularly the extensive destruction of the University Health Clinic,ICT centre, the Security Office as well as wanton loooting and damages to personal property of individuals like vehicles.
3. Senate ratified the decision of the Vice Chancellor to ask the students to proceed on an indefinite Mid-Semester break to forestall further damage and loss of life.
4. Senate constituted a committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and submit an interim report within two weeks and a final report in four weeks.
